This position will work with our Smiles X-Press (Teledentistry) program to interface with families and school or community site before, during, and after service day.

Essential Functions:

• Conducts outreach to families about the program to generate interest and participation in service days

• Establish and maintain relationships with school staff and parents

• Obtains parental consent and enrolls child in program; assists in processing patient consent forms and enters data into EDR software system

• Connects with classroom or community site staff to provide orientation; works with staff to develop most efficient process for daily flow

• Work as a team alongside a Dental Hygienist and Dental Assistant

• Assists in scheduling patients

• In school settings, brings children from classroom and to the VDH location

• Communicates treatment plan with parents and promotes improved oral health habits and behaviors

• Identifies barriers to obtaining follow-up treatment and works with families to find solutions

At the VDH Site

• Assist the Dental Assistant with loading and unloading equipment

• Set up work station I.e.: laptop, printer and scanner

• If adding new patients, enter into Denticon and prepare all necessary documentation for Hygienist/Assistant

• If present, greet parent/guardian and provide oral health education to parents

• Collect all forms from Hygienist, scan all documents and provide copies to each child to take home

• In school setting: In between bringing children from class to VDH site, check if schedule is full for the next day, assist in scheduling when necessary, and prepare proper paperwork

Administrative Days

• Call on parents unable to reach thought the week

• Look through treatment recommendations and create Treatment Plans

• Call and communicate Treatment plans to parents

• Assist in checking patient Medi-Cal eligibility and scheduling if necessary

• Organize paperwork from the day and prepare paperwork for the next day

Position Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED

• Preferably 1 year of community health center (medical/dental) clinic experience

• Able to speak and write English and Spanish proficiently

• Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with individuals from different racial, ethnic, cultural and social-economic backgrounds.

• Experience working with one or more of the following: families, community groups, nonprofits, health programs,

• Computer literate in Word and Excel programs
